Yesterday I did a good deed. I was stopped at a stoplight and saw that a calf had gotten through a barbed-wire fence and was just grazing in the ditch. Not knowing exactly who to call and not seeing clearly a farmer to whom the cow might belong, I called the police department so that someone could at least try to contact the owner and attempt to prevent it from going on the road.

I'm from Iowa. I've seen what happens when cattle get onto the road. I've also seen what happens when a semi-truck doesn't see said cattle on road and proceeds to decimate half a herd. Gross. Trust me.
