I have been taking note of a strange phenomenon here in the last few days. Nashville in late autumn is like a wet Persian cat. You know how those cats are all fluffy and pretty, and then when you see one doused with water, you think, "Gah! What happened to you?" When I moved down here this summer, everything was green and leafy and beautiful. Now the leaves are gone, and you can see what the trees were hiding. It is not horrible, but just a little startling all the same.

More later.
