So sue me for enjoying Halloween. I don't pull out an ouiji board or book of spells or anything. I just like to put on my Edward Scissorhands soundtrack and dress up for the kiddos who come begging for a sugar high. I have all these teenagers on the messageboards talking about how it is "satan's holiday" and how they sit with the lights off and ignore the doorbell. And yeah, I understand part of their argument to a certain extent. No, I'm not an advocate of attending the virgin sacrifice at the local church of satan... but I think these people are missing an opportunity. This article pretty much sums up my whole philosophy on the matter. "Yes, spiritual warfare is a real thing, but if Christians are off having their own party in church on October 31, we must reconsider who really is winning this battle." "Which is more of a victory for satan, I wonder—a shining Jack-o-lantern and five costumed kids at my door, or a dark house where the light should be?"
On a different note... I had someone tell me "smashing" today. I wish I could work that into my own speech without sounding like a wanna-be. This guy was quite obviously Australian judging by his accent and the things he referenced. When I told him that we were going to be sending something out to him straight away he said, "Smashing! I look forward to it." Hehe.
smash·ing adj.
Informal. Extraordinarily impressive or fine; wonderful: a smashing success.
Of course, it almost goes without saying that today Michael Jackson's new album is released. I plan to head over to my local music outlet and make that purchase here shortly. I must say that I am thoroughly disappointed in Tower Records. I was all excited last night when Michael (not Jackson) suggested that the bunch of us go to Tower to buy the album at midnight... but no -- it's not important enough to them to stay open past midnight. Sheesh. Such disrespect to the King of Pop.
